What Tapet collects, why, and what you can do about it.
Last updated: September 18, 2026
Tapet is made by SharpRegion ("we", "us"), PO Box 23655, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33307, United States. SharpRegion is the data controller for the personal data described here. For any privacy question, email privacy@tapet.app.
Usage analytics: which screens and buttons you use, sheets you open, gestures you make (sent as a per-session summary rather than individually), wallpapers you like or unlike, settings you change, paywall views and purchase outcomes (product id, price and currency, never card details), sign-in attempts and their result, and sync outcomes including error messages. Each installation is given a random analytics identifier. Our analytics provider also records standard technical details such as your device model, operating system version, app version, language, and the IP address the request came from.
Diagnostics: on Android, crash reports including the stack trace and device state. Unexpected errors are also recorded through our analytics provider on both platforms.
Signing in is optional and uses Google or Apple. We receive your user id, email address, display name, and profile picture URL from the provider, and we store them in our authentication system. We never receive your password. Your user id, email, name and profile picture URL are also attached to your analytics and crash records so that we can support you and investigate issues on your account.
If you have a plan that includes cloud sync and you are signed in, we store the settings needed to recreate your collection: your liked wallpapers (the pattern id, the generation parameters, and the color palette), your custom palettes, your custom styles and their palettes, and which patterns and styles you have enabled. Every row is stored against your user id only. Your wallpaper history, your app settings, your chosen photo folder, and the wallpaper image files themselves stay on your device and are never uploaded.
If you create a palette from an image, the app reads that one image to extract its colors on your device. The image is not uploaded and is not kept by us. On Android you may also point Tapet at a folder of your own photos to use as wallpaper sources; the list of those files stays on your device.
Purchases are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We never see your payment details. The store tells the app what you own so we can unlock features. To measure which purchases came from where, the app sends the purchased product id and the store's purchase receipt or token to our purchase analytics provider, together with a random identifier for the buyer.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal bases are: performance of a contract with you (providing the app, your account, sync and purchases), our legitimate interests (keeping the app reliable and secure, understanding how it is used, and improving it), and your consent where the law requires it, for example for notifications you choose to allow. You can withdraw consent at any time in your device settings.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for advertising. We use a small number of service providers, who process data on our behalf:
We may also disclose information if we are legally required to, or to protect our rights, safety, or the integrity of the service.
We are based in the United States and our providers process data in the United States and other countries. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, this means your data is transferred outside your country, and we rely on our providers' standard contractual clauses and equivalent safeguards for those transfers.
Synced content stays until you delete it or delete your account. When you remove a synced item, we keep a small record that it was deleted so that the deletion also reaches your other devices. Analytics and crash records are kept for as long as our providers' retention periods allow, which is currently up to a year, and are then removed or aggregated. Support emails are kept as long as we need them to help you.
Open your profile in the app, choose Delete account, and confirm. This immediately deletes your account and everything synced to it: likes, custom palettes, custom styles and their palettes, and your pattern and style settings. The local copy on that device is wiped at the same time. If you would rather we did it for you, or you also want your analytics and crash records deleted, email privacy@tapet.app and we will take care of it. Purchases are held by Google Play and Apple, so deleting your account does not cancel a subscription or request a refund.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. If you are in California, you may request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, request deletion, and you will not be treated differently for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are used in California law. To exercise any right, email privacy@tapet.app from the address on your account. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Anyone can use Tapet to make wallpapers, children included. The app has no ads, no user content and nothing to browse, and it asks for no personal details. Tapet is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. What does need an age is an account: signing in shares your email address and name with us, so an account is for ages 13 and up, or older where local law sets a higher age for consenting to online services. If you believe a child has created an account or given us personal data, email privacy@tapet.app and we will delete it.
Data in transit is encrypted with HTTPS. Access to synced data is restricted to your own account by database access rules, and administrative access is limited to the people who need it. No service can be completely secure, but we work to protect your data and to fix problems quickly when we find them.
Tapet previously used a different backend. Data from accounts created before that change was staged for transfer and is keyed by email address so it can be restored to the right account when its owner signs in. If you want that staged data removed instead, email privacy@tapet.app.
We will update this page when the way we handle data changes, and we will change the date at the top. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
